Lake Sognsvann, Oslo Norway.
I lived and worked for ten days and nights on a frozen lake, using a traditional ice saw to cut a free-floating raft out of its metre-thick ice.
The journey would end when the raft broke free. See video here.
Local authorities closed down the performance within hours of the raft breaking free, over concerns for public safety.
In the months leading up to Journey, I camped with some Polish and Czech job seekers in the forest around the lake.
We attempted to build a winter cabin to survive the winter, only to abandon the build after discovery by the same local authorities. See pictures here.
